Crossfit for Hope - Need donations!
Going to be participating in Crossfit for Hope on June 23rd at my local box. All donations go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Looking for any type of donations - flat ones or ones based on reps, which I’m guessing max, I’ll do 100.   To donate click here: http://hope.crossfit.com/athlete?id=89400 “Hope” Three rounds of: Burpees 75 pound Power snatch Box jump,...

5/30/12 WOD
Woot-Woot! It was good to be back at CrossFit today!  Had some medical stuff going on and the box was closed for Memorial Day, so you know, I was having withdrawals. Today I went to the 5pm class rather than 9am in order to be there for the RX jump rope reps at 6pm.  It was fun meeting some other members that I never get to see and work out with them.  Plus I had both owners of the box as...

I know I'm addicted to Crossfit...
Because I got so dang excited about a rep from RX Jump Ropes coming to our box tonight to sell and fit jump ropes.  LOL, yep, I was literally jumping up and down in excitement of buying a jump rope.  What can I say? The Kool-Aid has been drunk and I’m getting an awesome rope to practice getting double unders down. The question is… should I go for girly pink camo? or misFit mango?

Memorial Day Murph
So one of the things I love about CrossFit is its ties to the military.  Most of our benchmark WOD’s are named for fallen soldiers.  They are hard workouts for the sole purpose that when you’re doing them and you don’t think you can do more, you take a moment to think about that person and what they had to do and their sacrifice for our country.  I think this appeals to me even...

5/21/12 WOD
I’m actually excited for tomorrow’s WOD after today! For our strength section we practiced the moves for the Bear Complex which will be what we do tomorrow.  Mostly we practiced form with the PVC pipe and then moved to a barbell and learned to link all the moves together. I really love olympic lifting. It makes you feel bad a$$. So here were the moves, done all linked together, no...

So it's been a full month...
Looking back now, this quote was so, so true for me a month ago.   So today I want to take a few minutes to share what’s in my heart about Crossfit and how it’s changed me.  Today ended my first full month at my local box and I’m amazed at how different I feel mentally and physically.  My hubby, family & friends are amazed at the changes too. FEAR - First I am admitting...

5/18/12 WOD
So today I did 2 new lifts and that was exciting for me.  I know that with the lifts lately I can go with more weight, but the coaches really want me to perfect my form before moving up, so they put on enough weight for you to feel it, but not so much that you can’t concentrate on your form.   Strength: 3 rounds x 3 all done Tempo (5 sec pause @ the bottom of the squat) Low Bar Back...

Paleo No-cheat Chocolate Donuts/Brownies
LOVE this recipe! I’ve made it several times, but haven’t posted here yet. It’s definitely got a banana flavor, so if you don’t like chocolate &  banana flavors together then you’ll want to skip this. Also, I prefer using coconut oil as it’s a great fat to include in your diet and my fav cooking chocolate is Ghiradelli unsweetened all natural cocoa. 3...

The Cavewoman Project: HealthWatch: New... →
cavewoman-project: LOS ANGELES (CBS 5) – A new documentary film looks at how one man’s near-death experience caused him to reexamine his diet, and return to ancestral eating habits. In 1978, at the age of 24, CJ Hunt suffered a cardiac arrest while running on Memorial Day at Beverly Hills High School in Los…

Paleo Spaghetti
So I’ve admitted that I was a pasta-holic prior to Paleo/Primal. I’ve really missed it and I’ve even tried some gluten-free brands (blech!!) and then just ate some as my 20% (felt like a rock in my tummy) and finally just gave it up altogether. Then I read about people using spaghetti squash in place of pasta and kept that in the back of my mind. On my last trip to Sprouts, I...

5/16/12 WOD
Check it out! I got my official WOD journal! I’m so excited! Ordered from Spourt Journal HERE. So today we did a bunch of strength exercises for the shoulders, traps and rhomboids.  Then we moved into the strength portion which was to work on weighted pull ups.  We worked in rounds of 3.  For me that basically meant that if I could do 3 reps with the large band easily then I had to work...

5/14/12 WOD
So pretty much everyone in class today was pumped up from watching the Regionals all weekend long.  Everyone felt pretty tough when starting out, but that quickly faded when we realized we were FAR from where those athletes compete at, LOL.  But it did seem we all pushed a little harder today as a result though, which is a good thing! Warm UP 5 min jump rope 5 air wall ball squats everytime...

5/11/12 WOD
Geez.  As I was driving to Crossfit today I was saying to myself, “please, anything but running today”.  So of course what do I see on the whiteboard today?  It’s Double-WOD-Friday.  Woo-hoo?   And what is WOD1?   “Death by 10m sprint” - good gosh.   So basically there is a 20 min cap and starting on minute 1 you do 1-10m sprint.  Then on minute 2 you do 2-10m...

Rainbow Chard w/ Pine Nuts, Parm & Basil
So dinner tonight was a fresh caught John Dory fillet that we spice rubbed. Yum! and as a side dish, as promised, is Rainbow Chard w/ Pine nuts, parmigiano and basil.  If you’re like me, pre-Primal, I would indulge in a heaping plate of pesto pasta.  It was one of my favorite flavors.  After going primal I began to really miss that pesto flavor but not the heavy sauce.   This recipe...

5/7/12 WOD
So today starts my 3 day a week program (M-W-F) and I entered the box today to find out that we will be practicing “Murph” off and on the next couple of weeks in order to do it on Memorial Day in honor of Murph. Today we were broken up into teams of 4 and each person was responsible for 1/4 of the WOD but we would all be running a mile. “Murph” 1 mile run 100 pull...
