Ahh, midweek workout….
- Split Push Jerk
- 6 Minute AMRAP
- Max Effort Thrusters
- 5 burpees everytime you have to rack the bar
Fun and Easy, right! That’s our box’s motto. So the split push jerk…hmm… interesting movement. NOT natural to me, LOL. This is the first time I did this move and I had trouble with the stance and landing correctly with a wide enough stance and externally rotating out the forward knee. eesh. Definitely have to work on that one. I only used a 25 pound barbell for practice.
The WOD was a little tiring. You try to keep doing thrusters so you don’t have to do burpees, but your shoulders tire out pretty quickly. I again just used the 25 pound barbell, no added weights. I think I was playing it safe because my # was about 15 more than most people. I probably should’ve added another 10-20 pounds. Oh well, the coach was working more with 3 new people in class so I think I slipped under his radar. Anywhoo, I busted out 65 thrusters and only had to rack the bar 4 times and do burpees. The last 2 rounds were only 12 thrusters each time. The first 2 rounds I was working it!
So…. that brings me to the horrible anticipation of Friday’s “Choose your own WOD”, the one in which my coach says I don’t get to choose 2 of the 3, I only get to choose 1 because he is making me do the running one. Yeah… I hate running and have been pretty vocal about it and now it seems to have come back to bite me in the ass. So I’m nervous for Friday night. Ugh.
